This silver vodka cup is a gift from Lieutenant Colonel Krabbe (probably along with several other cups and for sure a lot of vodka :-) to his fellow officers from the 3rd Company of the 3rd Turkestan Rifle Battalion. The occasion is his promotion to lieutenant colonel and appointment of a new duty - battalion  commander of the 1st Turkestan Rifle Regiment.

Translation ty beautiful vodka  was a gift from Lieutenant Colonel Krabbe  Leonid Karlovic to his fellow officers of 3rd. Turkestan Rifle Battalion  for his promotion to battalion commander of the 1st Turkestan Rifle Regiment in 1909.Colonel von Krabbe Leonid Karlovic16.04.1868 - 01.10.1914

Leonid Karlovic von Krabbe, Orthodox  Christian, comes from an old noble Prussian family with long military tradition, a direct descendant of Nikolay Karlovich Krabbe (1814–1876), admiral of the Russian Imperial Navy and also close relative of Grand Duke of Finland.
He began military education in the  2nd Moscow  Cadet Corps.
Entered military service in August 1885.
Continues his military education and graduated in the 3rd Military School Alexander in Moscow.
Promoted to Sub-Lieutenant on 08.11.1886 and deployed into the 3rd Turkestan Rifle Battalion.
Promoted to rank of lieutenant on 01.23.1890.
In rank of HQ Captain on 06.05.1900.
He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 06.05.1901 and commanded a company in the 3rd Turkestan Rifle Battalion.
He became Lieutenant  Colonel on 23.01.1909 and battalion  commander in the 1st Turkestan Rifle Regiment.
He was promoted to colonel just before the start of the First World War on 05.06.1914.
Participated in World War as part of the same regiment.
Died in the battle on 01.10. 1914 near the town of Elk (today in Poland).
The marks (stamps) of the silversmith and the creator of this masterpiece are on the outer bottom - VA for Vasilij Agafanov (ВА in Cyrillic for Василий
one of the most talented and promising Russian silversmiths/goldsmith of the early 20th century.
Vasily Agafonov (in Russian Василий Семенович Агафонов) was a prominent silversmith and goldsmith in Moscow from 1893 to 1916. He had a workshop in Moscow and specialized in producing silverware, jewelry and decorative objects from silver, gold and enamel. The outbreak of the Russian Revolution forced many silversmiths and goldsmiths to close their businesses. This event did not spare Agafanov's firm either.The last notice of activity was registered a bit earlier, in 1916.
